History
Founded in 1870 as the Polytechnicum, RWTH Aachen is today a member of the TU9 alliance and one of Germany's largest technical universities. Its location near the Belgian and Dutch borders has given the university a strong, international network of industry partnerships.
Known for its close ties to industry in automotive and mechanical engineering, RWTH Aachen also takes an innovative approach to student services: its iconic SuperC building, opened in 2009, serves as a central hub for student affairs and advising.
With a high share of international students and a wide range of English-taught master's programs, the university is one of the most popular destinations in Germany for international students seeking an engineering education.
