History
Founded in 1966, Universität Konstanz was designed from the outset as an interdisciplinary, research-focused 'reform university' rather than following the traditional faculty model.
With no engineering or medical faculty, Konstanz is known for its small-scale but intensive research culture in political science, public administration, chemistry, biology and computer science.
Holding Excellence University status continuously since 2007, Konstanz is considered one of Germany's highest-performing universities in terms of research funding per student.
